How to Take a Race-Cation
An Experience Life article about destination races includes quotes about Aloha Nordic's experience traveling from San Francisco to Wisconsin for the Birkie
"If we were going out of our comfort zone by signing up for a 50K, why not go big and sign up for the biggest race in the country?"
BirchScroll 2019/2020
Aloha Nordic was featured in the American Birkebeiner's annual BirchScroll magazine with a crossword written by the Aloha ladies and a fun blurb about the team
"Aloha Nordic is a San Francisco based team. With little access to snow, they train by biking and roller-skiing. In 2019, fourteen team members skied the Birkie (and the Birkie Giant Ski!). They'll be back in 2020!"
Watch Out for Garrett Health
An Outside Magazine profile of Aloha Nordic's Garrett Heath, in which he discusses how his cross country skiing helped him win the Great Edinburgh XCountry
“I think [cross-country skiing] helped with aerobic development, because with cross-country skiing, you can go for so much longer. We’d do long training sessions back then of, bare minimum, an hour-and-a-half, but you could ski up to five hours, which is just something you can’t do running... Overall, especially in a place like Edinburgh, I’ve raced so many times in the cold and snow cross-country skiing that it does help with your mindset.”
Race to the Top
Mill Valley Herald coverage of a rollerski vs. spikeboard race up Mt. Tam by Matt Liebsch and Enrique Cubillo, friends of Aloha Nordic
"The importance of our sports is they fuel a lifestyle of lifelong full-body fitness that I believe connects to a great understanding of healthy sustainability."
